MILWAUKEE -- After a roller coaster of a series opener at Miller Park, the Twins found themselves back atop the American League Central.

After the Brewers scored four runs in the seventh inning to take a lead, the Twins got a go-ahead three-run home run from Marwin Gonzalez in the eighth off All-Star closer Josh Hader for a 7-5 win on Tuesday night.

Box score

Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano reached base to start the eighth inning, but Luis Arraez and C.J. Cron were retired to bring up Gonzalez, which saw Hader brought in. Gonzalez hit Hader's first pitch, a 96-mph fastball over the heart of the plate, over the left-center-field wall.

Things changed in a hurry for Minnesota after Martin Perez silenced the Brewers in his six innings. The left-hander scattered six hits and four walks to allow one unearned run. Ryne Harper entered in the seventh and allowed the first four batters he faced to reach base. The last of the four was Yasmani Grandal, who hit a go-ahead three-run home run for Milwaukee.

But on a night that the Indians lost to the Red Sox, Gonzalez played the role of hero. His 14th home run gave Minnesota a half-game lead in the AL Central over Cleveland.

These 'out of it' teams could contend in '20

We instinctively (and I would say sensibly) devote the vast majority of our conversation this time of year to contenders. But right here, right now, let’s talk about some teams that are out of it now but could get in it in 2020. And when I say out of it…
